The banana nut bread recipe is just one of many variants of banana bread mixes that is commonly listed in cookbooks today. The first recipes for banana breads were introduced during the 1930s. It was during this time that the baking soda became widely accepted and used as a leavening agent for breads over the yeast. Subsequently, many variants of bread were made and introduced to the public. It was sometime during the 1960s, however, that the banana bread became popular because of variations that were introduced with nuts and other flavorful ingredients.
The regular banana bread recipe has eggs and mashed ripe bananas as major ingredients. It has a sweet taste with a soft and mash texture to the bite. A banana nut bread recipe, on the other hand, includes chopped nuts as part of its ingredients. The most popular nut ingredient for a banana nut bread is the pecan nut, which is a very good source of protein and antioxidants. The buttery taste of the pecan nut adds flavor to the regular banana bread, making it more prominently rich in texture to the palate.
A simple recipe will include the following ingredients; 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 2 cups of sugar, a cup of butter, 2 teaspoons of baking soda, 4 cups of flour, about 4 eggs, 6 mashed ripe bananas, and 1 cup of chopped nuts. While creaming the butter and sugar together, add and beat the eggs successively. Afterwards, include the other ingredients, the mashed bananas and chopped nuts. Stir the creamy mixture very well.
Pour the batter very well into well-greased loaf pans and bake it for about 1 and a half hour or use a toothpick to check by inserting it into the batter. A clean toothpick will mean that the bread is baked properly. This very simple banana nut bread recipe will make two loaves of banana nut bread.
